Privacy

NogPets grooms, walks and sits pets in Stellenbosch. To do that we need to know who you are, where you live and a little about your pets. This page says what we keep, why, where it lives and who else sees it. It covers this website and the NogPets app.

Who we are

NogPets is run by Peak Software (Pty) Ltd (registration 2020/848211/07), 77 Mango Road, Allen Grove, Kempton Park, 1619, South Africa. We are the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Our Information Officer is [Information Officer name]. Reach them at privacy@nogpets.com.

What we collect

Your account: name, email address, phone number and, if you add one, a photo. If you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your name and email from them.

Your pets: name, type, breed, weight, coat, birth year, photo and any notes you give us (health, behaviour, allergies).

Your addresses: the address, its map location, and access notes such as a gate code or where the key is.

Your bookings: what you booked, when, for which pets, the price, the status, and messages about it.

Payments: the amount and the result. Card details go straight to Payfast. We never see or store your card number.

Reviews you choose to write, and your device's notification token so we can tell you about your booking.

If the app crashes, a crash report (device model, app and system version, what the app was doing) goes to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix it. It holds no pet, address or payment details.

On this website: nothing, unless you give us your email for the app launch, or fill in the offer or giveaway form (your name, mobile number, suburb and, if you want, your dog's name and breed; where you came from, such as a QR code). The site uses no cookies and no tracking. Our web server keeps standard logs (IP address, page, time) for security, for up to 30 days.

If you ask us for a service in a place we don't go to yet, we keep your request (your name, number, the place and what you wanted) so our team can tell you about service near you.

If you message us on WhatsApp or email, we keep that conversation to help you.

If you buy from the shop: your name, email, phone, delivery address, what you ordered and the payment result. You can order on this website without an account.

The shop's cart is kept in your own browser (local storage). It is not sent to us until you check out, and it is not used to track you.

Why we use it

To do the work you booked: to know where to go, how to get in, and how to care for your pet safely. That is necessary to perform our contract with you.

To take payment, send receipts and handle refunds, and to keep the records the law requires.

To tell you about your booking (confirmations, reminders, changes). We only send marketing if you asked for it, and every message lets you stop.

To keep the service safe and working: to prevent fraud and fix problems.

To pack, send and deliver your order, to tell you when it ships, and to handle returns and refunds.

Who else sees it

Our crew see what they need for your booking: your name, phone, address, access notes and your pets' details.

Google (Firebase) hosts the app's data, sign-in, notifications and crash reports. Payfast processes card payments. Resend sends our emails about your bookings. Cloudflare carries traffic to this website and forwards email sent to us. WhatsApp (Meta) carries messages you send us there. OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) turns the location of a request from a place we don't go to yet into a place name: only the location is sent.

Each of them processes data for us under their own terms and security. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

We give information to authorities only when the law requires it.

When we send an order by courier, the courier gets your name, phone and delivery address so they can deliver it. Nothing else.

Resend sends our order emails (order received, paid, shipped and refunded).

Where it is kept

The app's data (your account, pets, addresses, bookings and photos) is stored with Google Cloud in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Some services run outside South Africa: Firebase sign-in, push notifications and crash reports (Google), Resend, Cloudflare, WhatsApp and OpenStreetMap. We use them only under terms that protect your information to a standard comparable to POPIA, as section 72 requires.

How long we keep it

Your account data stays while you have an account. Delete your account and we delete it within 30 days (see https://nogpets.com/delete-account).

Booking and payment records are kept for as long as tax law requires, usually five years, then deleted.

A launch email is deleted once we have told you the app is out, or when you ask.

Order and payment records are kept like booking records: as long as tax law requires, usually five years.

Your rights

You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to us using it. Email privacy@nogpets.com. We answer within 30 days.

You may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa: https://inforegulator.org.za.

Children

You must be 18 or older to book. We do not knowingly collect information about children.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Only our crew and managers can see bookings, and only for the business they work for. Access notes such as gate codes are shown to the crew on your booking and no one else.

Changes

If this changes in a way that matters, we update the date above and tell you in the app.
